Happy Black History Month

When the organs of government are used to support the private good of some, rather than the public good of all.

i don’t want to hear shit else about affirmative action being detrimental to white folk. y’all had affirmative action before there was even a term for it.

There’s a book called “When Affirmative Action Was White” and it, along with extensive MLK teachings, should be required reading in high school.

Government assistance in America is invisible until black people receive it. Then it becomes racialized, demonized and stigmatized.

I’m reading through my D&D 5E books, and somehow I never noticed these solid gold disclaimers before??

Dungeon Master’s Guide
Disclaimer: Wizards of the Coast does not officially endorse the following tactics, which are guaranteed to maximise your enjoyment as a Dungeon Master. First, always keep a straight face and say OK no matter how ludicrous or doomed the players’ plan of action is. Second, no matter what happens, pretend that you intended all along for everything to unfold the way it did. Third, if you’re not sure what to do next, feign illness, end the session early, and plot your next move. When all else fails, roll a bunch of dice behind your screen, study them for a moment with a look of deep concern mixed with regret, let loose a heavy sigh, and announce that Tiamat swoops from the sky and attacks.

Player’s Handbook
Disclaimer: Wizards of the Coast is not responsible for the consequences of splitting up the party, sticking appendages in the mouth of a leering green devil face, accepting a dinner invitation from bugbears, storming the feast hall of a hill giant steading, angering a dragon of any variety, or saying yes when the DM asks, “Are you really sure?”

holy god im dead

@ancientcentipede :)

“Are you sure?” is one of the scariest things to hear as a player and a very good tool to use as a DM

When the Doctor can't figure out what's wrong

  • Proper Response: I'm sorry, but there's nothing else I can do for you.
  • Better: I'll refer you to a specialist who might know.
  • Best: I'll refer you to (x) doctor, because they're the best specialist in the city. You have a complicated medical history, and they often treat people with symptoms similar to yours. (Note: the probability of getting this response is somewhere between "double rainbow," and "pet unicorn.")
  • Most common: You're making this up stop wasting my time.

Convict leasing. Look it up. Some scholars say it was even worse than slavery because there was no incentive not to work people to death and then just replace them.

Convict Leasing was followed by Jim Crow and Segregation, which were followed by what we have now: the New Jim Crow.

Racism hasn’t gone anywhere. It just evolved.
